because fundamentalism seems to have focused on personalities more than principle. Some may react against a perceived harshness of spirit in some separatist leaders. Others may weary of the need for perpetual vigilance and militancy, or be discouraged with spokesmen whose focus “goes to seed.” When a ministry’s emphasis shifts from separatism as the complement of evangelism to separatism as an end in itself, that ministry is deadened.
